Wake Forest Car Accident

WAKE FOREST -- Wake Forest police charged a motorist with murder in connection with an auto accident this month that killed a Youngsville man, authorities announced today.

The driver, Pedro Adalberto Guity, will be charged with second degree murder after police determined that his vehicle was moving in the wrong direction -- traveling south on the northbound U.S. 1 exit ramp --- before it pulled onto Capital Boulevard and crashed head on into a vehicle driven by Robert Ernesto Harris of Youngsville on Dec. 13.

Emergency workers pronounced Harris dead at the scene.

Emergency workers took Guity to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he remains in good condition, a hospital spokeswoman said this morning.

Police also charged Guity, of 1319 Verdouco Drive in Holly Springs, with driving while impaired, according to a Wake Forest news release.

The fatal crash occurred about 3 a.m. Guity, of 1319 Verdouco Drive in Holly Springs, had turned down the U.S. 1 exit ramp that rises to the N.C. 98 overpass.

Investigators reported that Guity's vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lane. Harris was driving north in the right lane along U.S. 1.
