Single Vehicle Accident in Lee County, NC

A 35-year-old Sanford woman died early Sunday morning from injuries in a car crash in Lee County.

Martha Ann Clark, 35, of 4121 Farmstead Drive, died at the scene. No one else was in the car.

The accident occurred Sunday at 12:58 a.m.

Clark was driving a 1999 Lexus when she approached the intersection of Sheriff Watson and Swann Station Road, said Trooper C.B. Cook of the N.C. Highway Patrol. She ran the stop sign, ran off the road, struck a ditch and overturned several times.

She was ejected from the car, Cook said.

Cook said her car was traveling at a high rate of speed - he estimated it at about 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.
