DUI Charges in North Carolina
Local law-enforcement officers made a number of DUI arrests over the Christmas holiday weekend.
Among those charged were these six people:
* Tami Sanchez, 31, of 335 Wayland Drive, was charged about 12:41 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, with DUI (2nd offense) and possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV drugs. Greeneville police stated that she was found unconscious behind the wheel of a sport utility vehicle at the entrance to the West Greene shopping center on the Asheville Highway.
Bond for Sanchez was set at $4,000. She was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
* Beverly June Booth, 35, of 71 Snapps Ferry Park, was charged with DUI about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, by GPD Officer Cameron Spradlin after a traffic stop for speeding on the Andrew Johnson Highway.
Bond for Booth was set at $1,000. She was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
* Robert E. Nilsen, 62, of Johnson City, was charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license about 9 p.m. Dec. 26 by GPD Officer Cameron Spradlin following a traffic stop for erratic driving.
Bond for Nilsen was set at $2,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
* Terry Ray Myers, 35, of 2000 Bible's Chapel Road, was charged Dec. 27 by Deputy Sheriff David Beverly with DUI (2nd offense), vandalism and domestic assault. The deputy reported that Myers allegedly assaulted his wife, vandalized her car and drove while intoxicated, before being taken into custody in the 2000 block of Bible's Chapel Road.
Bond for Myers was set at $3,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
* Judy C. Meyer, 54, of Asheville, N.C., was charged with DUI about 2:35 a.m. Dec. 26 by Trooper Eric Wise after a traffic accident near the 24-mile marker of Interstate 81.
Bond for Meyer was set at $1,000. She was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
* Scott Thomas Abelson, 48, of 204 Aspen Street, was charged with DUI Saturday night, Dec. 26, by Deputy Sheriff Robert Livingston after Abelson was found behind the wheel of a car that was stopped in the middle of West Main Street without its lights illuminated.
Bond for Abelson was set at $1,000. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 28.
