Lexington Car Accident

LEXINGTON – A 61-year-old Lexington woman was killed Sunday evening in a head-on collision.

Sharon Ferrell Ward of 226 Bowers Road died following the crash around 5:37 p.m. on Turner Road just outside of Lexington, according to the Highway Patrol.

According to an accident report, Ward was traveling north on Turner Road in a Honda sports utility vehicle when her car was struck head on by a vehicle driven by Angela Comer Cannon, 37, of 113 Arbor Drive, of Lexington.

Trooper J.F. Bauguess indicated in his report that Cannon was traveling southbound in a Hyundai sports utility vehicle on Turner Road when she went left of center and struck Ward's vehicle.

Cannon, along with her 12-year-old daughter, were transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash and all of those involved were wearing seat belts.

Charges are pending against Cannon, officials said.
