Car Accident on Interstate 85 in North Carolina

CONCORD — A car went out of control and crashed on Interstate 85 this afternoon, trapping the driver inside.

The accident occurred at 1:48 p.m. on I-85 near the N.C. 73 interchange.

Trooper N.C. Foster of the N.C. Highway Patrol said the late model Pontiac, which was going southbound, ran off the road and struck a road sign.

The car continued on for another 300 feet, spinning around before striking the guardrail on the northbound side.

Emergency crews had to cut the roof off to get the driver out.

Foster said the middle-aged man was taken to CMC- NorthEast for treatment.

His name was not immediately available.
