Authorities on Monday released the 911 call placed by a woman shortly after a car ran off the road and hit a tree, killing three people Saturday night.
"The car lights are on," the unknown caller told a Guilford Metro 911 operator. "We don't see anybody or anything."
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, three passengers were killed in the single-car accident when the driver ran off the road and hit a tree on Fairgrove Church Rd. near Spencer's Way in Browns Summit around 11 p.m. Saturday.
"It looks like a single vehicle. I see smoke coming out of something," the woman told the 911 operator. "There's no movement out of that car."
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Amanda Sperduti, survived and was charged with DWI.
The highway patrol identified the victims as Scott W. Bedwell, 23, of Greensboro; Taylor McCaskill, 18, of Browns Summit; and Sascha A. Hoffmann, 18, of Whitsett.
According to the school Web site, Hoffman is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Guilford High School. McCaskill and Bedwell both graduated from Northeast Guilford High School.
