Woman Charged with DWI in Fatal Wreck
A Reidsville woman was charged with driving while impaired following a fatal wreck on N.C. 87 North late Friday.
N.C. Highway Patrol Troop P.M. Thornton said he will consult with District Attorney Rob Johnson this week to determine if Andrea Forrest, 39, of Reidsville, will face additional charges.
Forrest was driving a Mazda Millenia north on N.C. 87 North at about 10:05 p.m. when the wreck occurred near Gilliam Church Road.
“She was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Thornton said. “The vehicle lost control, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left and collided with a tree.”
James Anderson Dodson Jr., 41, of Pelham, was in the front passenger seat and died on impact, Thornton said.
Forrest was taken by helicopter to Duke University Medical Center. Thornton said her injuries were severe but not life threatening.
Thornton estimated that Forrest was driving 70 mph in a 55-mph zone. He said he is awaiting test results to determine Forrest’s blood alcohol level.
