CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say one person has been killed in a crash after a chase by the Highway Patrol.

Police Capt. Tim Wilson says the accident happened shortly after the chase was reported at 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

Police and Highway Patrol officials did not immediately identify the victim who was killed. It was not clear whether the victim was the suspect being chased or a bystander.

One civilian car crashed into a telephone pole and another struck the side of a house.
