Charlotte Hit and Run Car Accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A man turned himself in Saturday morning to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, saying he was the man who struck and killed a person on North Tryon Street Friday night.

Police have charged Jonathan Keith Malloy with felonious hit and run. The wreck happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Malloy is accused of fleeing the scene after hitting the person.

Police got a call early Saturday morning from a woman who said the car Malloy was driving was hers and she knew who was driving the car at the time of the accident.

She agreed to let the police department tow the car to be processed and also gave a statement.

Police still aren't releasing the ID of the person killed, they are still trying to get a hold of the person's next of kin.

The crash is still under investigation.
